Safety & Health Specialist | Certified Trainer | Occupational Health Expert

With decades of experience in occupational health and safety, William “Bill” North is a highly respected Safety and Health Specialist at TRS, where he brings a passion for employee well-being and a career’s worth of expertise to the forefront of industrial safety initiatives. Bill joined TRS following his retirement from Caterpillar, Inc., where he served with distinction as an Occupational Nurse IV. His transition to TRS was inspired by the company’s unwavering commitment to employee safety and continuous improvement—values that deeply align with his own professional philosophy.

Bill’s educational foundation includes studies at the Tennessee College of Applied Science and Christian Brothers College, both of which helped shape his technical and practical approach to safety and health management. At TRS, he plays a critical role in the development and execution of safety programs, particularly in the areas of Industrial Hygiene associated with Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, regulatory compliance, and workforce training.

Throughout his career, Bill has obtained an impressive list of certifications and specialized training credentials that support his multifaceted expertise, including:

  • Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC)
  • TEEX Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO)
  • DOT Certified Hazardous Material Trainer
  • CPR/AED/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen Trainer (certified by both the Red Cross and the American Heart Association)
  • Certified Pollution Responder and Trainer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

Bill is especially passionate about training and education, viewing it as a key tool in empowering workers, preventing incidents, and fostering a proactive culture of safety across all levels of an organization.

Outside of his professional life, Bill is deeply involved in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he continues his lifelong commitment to service, public safety, and environmental stewardship. He also enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family. Bill is married to his wife Lisette, and together they delight in their growing family, which includes three beloved—and, by his own account, perfect—grandchildren.

With a blend of technical knowledge, field experience, and a strong sense of purpose, Bill North exemplifies the values of integrity, leadership, and care that TRS stands for.
